Article Description: A Team can be used for organizing based on a region, a special interest cause, or any demographic the Organization chooses. Choose whether your Teams should be public or private. In this article, we will explain the difference between having public or private teams and what you may want to consider when making a decision. Your Organization can have both public and private Teams.
Public Teams
Public teams are visible to all SwipeRed users who have joined the Organization and can be joined by any SwipeRed user. Volunteers who download SwipeRed choose the organization they want to join, and within that organization, they can select a public team.
Additionally, actions published in a public Team are visible to everyone on the platform who has chosen the Organization, and anyone who joins your public Team can start taking action right away.
Private Teams
Private Teams allow you to invite a specific set of volunteers to join your Team on SwipeRed. Additionally, actions within a private Team are only visible to the volunteers who have joined your Organization. Only your volunteers can view and interact with your Organization’s actions. Other users on SwipeRed cannot see these actions.
Setting up Teams
To set up a Team Go to Advocates>Teams>New Team button.
Once you click on the New Team button, you will see this screen:
If you are creating a private group, toggle the private switch to yellow and click Create. You can then go back into the team and click the add button.
Adding Members to a Team
1. Open the team you just created
2. Click the Add button
3. Enter email addresses one at a time, or paste multiple emails at once
4. Click Add to confirm
When you add an email, the system automatically checks for an existing account: - If the person already has an account, they are linked to the team immediately - If no account exists, an invite email is sent automatically - After adding, you’ll see a summary showing how many were linked and how many were invited
You can also add existing advocates directly using the dropdown selector — this is a faster way to add people who already have accounts.
Now only the members of the team will see their messages, walk books, or call lists.
Understanding the Team Access List
The team access list shows two columns: Email and Advocate.
• If the person has signed up and created their advocate account, their name appears as a clickable link in the Advocate column
• If the person has been invited but hasn’t signed up yet, you’ll see a clock icon in the Advocate column — this means their sign-up is pending
Team members will see the team in their mobile app and receive any messages or walk book assignments you create for that team
Editing Advocate Names
Advocate names can be edited directly from the Advocates list: - First Name and Last Name appear as separate editable columns - Click on a name to edit it inline - Changes are saved automatically and synced to the advocate’s profile
