"Update" is used to add data to contacts or replace/update certain fields (e.g., Tag or new email addresses). However, "Update" CANNOT be used to add new contacts to the database.
Identify the file with your modification to the database.
Select which field you want to match on - Source ID, Email or Mobile Phone (We strongly recommended to use the Source ID, the system allows the use of email and phone number to be used on multiple contacts. An update will change the updated field on ALL of the contacts with the same Email or Mobile Phone.
Select the matching field first - it is highlighted in the dropdown.
Select the fields you want to update. Other fields are NOT changed or deleted.
After an update, the system creates a list of "Skipped" contacts. You download this list and match it with the original update file. This will be your list of contacts that you need to import as new additional to the database.
