Import Contacts from File
Updated over 5 months ago

Import is only used to add NEW Contacts to the database. Imports can come through a Data Sync with a 3rd party provider like the RNC or through the upload of a CSV file.

Imports are a 2 step process. The first step upload your CSV file into a holding area. There the system analyses your file and gives you an overview of the quality of the data in your file. Once you clear the data, the file is then up-loaded into your database.

Import from a file

Under Contacts", "Import" go to "Browse file" and select your import file.

Map the fields in the file to your system files. Your file must have a unique Source ID. The best practice is to have the "Source ID" be a state voter ID. BE SURE TO MAP THE PROPER SOURCE ID FIELD.

A "Source" field is also required. Be sure to select the proper Source.

After the import t into the holding area, you will see the below:

Decide which records you want to import, identify the source you obtained the data from, and agree to the Authorization. You can now determine if the import overrides all existing data, maintain Phone and email, or not override any data for contacts that are in the system with an existing Source ID.

After you "authorize" the import, click the "IMPORT SELECTED"

After a partial import you can either delete or modify the remaining contacts

Any TAGs your import file has will NOT be imported. You need to run an "Update" to add the TAGS.
