To create posts and messages in SwipeRed you must first click the "Outreach" button (if you run more than one campaign make sure you are in the campaign for which you are trying to post).

Once there, select "New Message"

Once the new message window appears make sure the Mobile App tab is selected. From there you can select which team you want to send the message to. By default it sends to All My Advocates. Next you will select the push type.

Friend-to-Friend Outreach

The friend-to-friend push type will go out to the team you have selected and is meant for your advocates to share with their contacts or any smart matches they may have. You will notice that below the push type is a switch for Peer-to-Peer outreach. When you select that you will get a P2P Message box, this is the message that will be shared when your advocates reach out to any smart matches or contacts.

Next you will select whether you want to target an audience or target a tag in the message. This is the group of people you would like your advocates to reach out to and will determine who their smart matches will be. By default audience is selected. To select a tag click on the icon next to the Choose an Audience dropdown. This will display a text box for you to search for a tag.

Advocate-to-Locale Outreach

The Advocate-to-Locale push type is used to connect with voters within a certain locale. The Locale Target Size dropdown allows you to choose how many voters you want to target within that area. The options range from 50 to 1,000 voters. You can then target specific voters using the Visible Tags dropdown. Using the Loopback Form dropdown you can select a form to collect feedback on the event.

Social Media Outreach

The Social Media push type is a message that can be shared on any social media platform. Below the push type dropdown there will be a dropdown to select which social media sites you want to share the message.

Advocates Only

The Advocates Only push type is a message that will only be shared with your advocates. It cannot be shared with anyone outside of your advocates.

Polling Advocates

To start an advocate-only poll do the following:

  1. Select Advocates Only from the Push Type dropdown

  2. Then under the Message Attachment dropdown select Polling

  3. You will notice that multiple choice answers will now appear below the message box. You can click to rename them and click the Add Choice button to add another option to the poll. You can click the minus on the right side of the poll option to remove it from the list

Composing the Message

Once you have chosen what type of outreach you would like you must write in a subject line, as well as a message for the message box. There is also an optional Message Instructions box which can be used to tell your advocates what to do with the message, this is a message that will not be shared with anyone except your advocates. Once you have done that you will choose when you would like to post this message in the line at the top. If you don't pick a time it will default to right now, otherwise you can set a future date so it can automatically get sent at a future time of your choosing.

You also must decide when you would like the message to expire. The default is for the message to expire in one month, but you must consider the content of the message. Some messages will be relevant all the way to election days, others won't be relevant past a specific day.

Message Attachment

The Message Attachment dropdown will allow you to attach a Landing Page, Form, External Web Link, or Photo to your message. You can only use one type of attachment with a message and can only attach one image to a message. Also keep in mind if you choose friend-to-friend the attachment will not be sent with the message, but if you choose social media outreach it will be sent with the post.

Lastly, to finish this process you have 2 options, either save or send (or schedule). If you save a message this saves it as a draft and you can come back and edit it later. The other option is send which will immediately send the message. If you have set a future publish date that send button will appear as a "schedule" button.
